Hackers On Planet Earth HOPE 26 Conference
I’ve been going to the Hackers On Planet Earth (HOPE) conference since 2002 (past writeups here), and attended my 13th last month. Originally, the conference was in the Hotel Pennsylvania in Manhattan, but once that was demolished, the conference moved out to St. John’s in Queens for a few years. In the last year, HOPE was unceremoniously (and unjustly) kicked out of St. Johns. The conference scrambled, but came up with a great solutions: The Hotel New Yorker.
It was a really fun conference, and while the St. John’s facilities were nice and spacious, being back in Manhattan really helped revive the original spirit of the conference, with the spice of the craziness of Manhattan out the front door. My talk seemed to go well (recording here) and it looks like the conference will become annual and be back in Manhattan again next year; I look forward to attending.
