Netflix House Stranger Things Immersive Experience
On August 26, on my way back from teaching my networking workshop in Baltimore, I stopped in at the King of Prussia Mall to check out Netflix House and their Stranger Things attraction. No photos inside, but it features a series of rooms, and the audience is divided up into groups. You start with taking some mental “tests” and then the groups have to each perform some tasks inside to advance the story. The final room features a large 3D screen that was used very effectively. There’s performers in each room, and the actors from the series appear on video. Overall, I thought they did a good job, theming was well done, and there were some clever effects. There was one video effect that simulated a frosted glass wall with characters behind it; that one actually fooled me briefly; as someone who has been doing this stuff for 40 years that’s a pretty high bar. The the venue is broken up into two studios, and the plan apparently is to rotate attractions through these modular spaces.
