The Story Behind the Photo #15: Minnesota Severe Storm

In May 2012, I got to do my first storm chase in the plains, and was on this severe storm near Slayton, Minnesota.  I got out in front of the storm and snapped this shot of the incredibly foreboding looking updraft of the storm.  The turbulent part of the updraft in the picture was boiling visibly to the eye, see the video I have here. I ended up having to punch through this storm to get out, and the rain was so intense that I had to pull of the road.  I was at a stop sign and I couldn't even see the road in the intersection (see the video).  More photos of this storm here.
