Gary Numan "Cars" on Cars

Just saw this Sears DieHard video on Boing Boing.  On first glance, it looks real (with some qualifications) to me (unlike the Samsung LED sheep, one of my most popular posts, with thousands of views).  When I get caught up after my crazy week I'll try and post some speculation on what they did and didn't do:

If all the cars are wired in parallel to one battery, once you start one car, won't the rest of them get current from the 1st car's alternator (and the battery too of course)? Like jump starting? So the "enough power to start 'x' number of cars" argument would only hold true if you wired each one up individually, and disconnected the battery right after starting to prevent charge current from affecting the outcome.

Maybe it would make a good mythbusters episode? They did that other car commercial where the speeding car in the desert can beat gravity (the falling car) . But this one doesn't involve destroying anything or blowing anything up, so maybe it wouldn't be compelling television. I guess the better television would be "DieHard Battery vs Mythbusters" - "Enough power to detonate hundreds of explosions!"

But yeah, enough power for an inverter hooked up to a keyboard, a few fluorescent tubes, and some kind of MIDI control/relay system for flashing the lights & honking the horns... I can see that.

If they had really researched car horn pitches and got all the different brands with the horns closest to each pitch then that would be REALLY something.
