IAAPA 2023

The IAAPA Expo, the amusement and theme park trade show, is the most fun show I ever go to. There are bouncy castles, roller coasters and all kind of stuff set up inside. There’s free food hand outs, and everything you need for an amusement park, from trash cans to prizes. And then there’s the “high tech” section, which is the real reason I go, to see long time friends and colleagues and what they are up to. It’s hard to believe that I hadn’t been since 2018, but that’s when my time at CityTech really got overwhelming, and then the pandemic, etc.

Here’s some random photos from the show, with a few captions. (Click to enlarge)

We also went to the excellent Attractions Technology Lab offsite.

And then we went to a very (unusually for this time of year) rainy Universal Studios. The Bourne Stuntacular was amazing and due to the small crowds we were actually able to watch it twice. Separate blog entry on that here. We happened to be there the first night of their Christmas Parade, which was well done.
