Holger Förterer's Virtual Sculpture Reacting to Real Light

Video pioneer Holger Förterer, who has been deeply involved with shows like Cirque’s Ka (my writeup of that amazing show here), posted a new video showing some very cool interactivity.

Prototype of my upcoming interactive installation "Sculpture 2". The virtual sculpture reacts to the real light situation of the room. I use spherical harmonics in conjunction with HDR stereoscopic cameras to simulate how the light field in front of the installation would cast light and shadow onto the virtual sculpture. The final sculpture will be created from many faces of different gender and age. I hope to release it in 2019.
