NYC Winter Lantern Festival at Snug Harbor

New in 2018 is the excellent Snug Harbor NYC Winter Lantern Festival on Staten Island here in NYC. It’s well worth the trip, here’s some photos. Click on any image for a larger version, and this page might take some time to load on a mobile device.

Suggestions:

  • I drove but it would be a fun ride on the Staten Island Ferry and then a Lyft (or public bus) to the center. Directions here.

  • Go later if you don’t have kids—it can be very crowded early.

  • Parking at the center is impossible when it’s crowded—grab street parking as soon as you see it.

  • Wear shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. There is a covered path through the attraction but it’s a lot better if you can wander in between the displays. It can be muddy off the track.

  • It would be amazing to see this in the snow.
