The Story Behind the Photo: #19 Ventura Surfer

In February, 2012, as part of my sabbatical, I took a research trip to California for my book.  I flew into LA, and then immediately drove north, ending up in Ventura.  I got up the next morning and explored the town a bit, and wanted to see the ocean.  I saw a bunch of surfers and got out my then-new telephoto and snapped this shot.  More photos and a write up of that part of my trip here.
