Kayaking The Rockaways

I had one last paddle to make up Year 1 of the "Around Long Island" paddle (my previous segment here), and my friend Roger H and I did it on Saturday.  Here's our GPS track:

We timed the tides perfectly, and got a more than 3MPH current boost coming out of Reynolds channel into the ocean!  (3 MPH is a lot when I typically paddle around 4 MPH!).  The surf was pretty manageable, but there were sets of big rollers coming in:

There was rain in the distance but we didn't get any:
