Mississippi and Alabama

We headed out from Vicksburg, Mississippi, and checked out the Vicksburg civil war battlefield:

Saw an amazing civil war armored steam ship:

Saw some barges on the mighty Mississippi:

And hit the road again:

Saw some local wildlife:

We ended up in Hattiesburg, where I ate some shrimp and grits. More photos here.

The next morning we headed for Gulf Shores, Alabama.  I wanted to check this one additional state off my list (I now have only six left to go!).  We had a nice lunch at Lulu's, and then checked out Fort Morgan:

We drove down to the beach:

Saw what we think was a rare sandhill crane:

And took the ferry by a bunch of oil platforms:

We ended up at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, where we got an amazing deal on gulf-facing rooms.  More photos here.
