Took me a while to get this posted, but here's the time lapse from my Saturday night BBQ:

John,

What did you use to shoot it?

Nikon P6000. It has a built in feature that takes frames and then creates an AVI file. But I'm looking now for a more serious camera and some software to do this, because the P6000, while convenient, ends up with pretty low resolution...

Whoa! The planes in the sky are amazing...at least I'm hoping that's what those dotted lines of light in the sky are.

Yep, those are planes approaching LGA. More time lapses of them here.

Hey John,
What a great way to archive an event! I really enjoyed the party - it was a perfect night, and I enjoyed meeting your friends.
Thanks for the invitation and the hospitality.

Hey there, John!

I'm using a Frankenscript batch file concoction built around a core of MPlayer/MEncode (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/) to automate daily time-lapse uploads of skyscapes via a couple of webcams. If you have a good source for regular stills, MEncode will handle output beautifully in whatever output format you'd like, avi, mpeg, swf, etc. Let me know if you'd like to look at the script.
