Nerd Night

Went to Nerd Night NYC last night, and it was a lot of fun.  There were three presentations, the first, by filmmaker David Shuff, was on the Disney "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" Ride, who became obsessed with the ride even though he only rode it once when he was three.  He has a comprehensive website here.

Up next was Jay Stahl-Herz, a pathology resident who showed some gruesome examples of various medical conditions, which was actually really fascinating.

The final speaker was Barry Julien, a writer for the Colbert Report who also shares my interests in card cheats (although he can actually do some things with cards, while I am hopeless.  It was a cool talk that focused on the influence of Dai Vernon and included a couple good demonstrations.
