Great Innovations in Broadcasting from CNN

Wow, note the great innovation here on the CNN HD screen in its coverage of the Democratic convention:

 

Look closely, that's right, they put a "sound from the floor" dB (?) level meter.  And, it's in STEREO!!!!!

Is this useful information for anyone?  At least if they put a dB SPL scale on it us audio geeks might find it interesting.  What's next, temperature?  Humidity?  Pheromone level?
