About Me

I'm John Huntington, author of Control Systems for Live Entertainment, the first book on show control and entertainment control systems. Through Zircon Designs, I do consulting and design work on entertainment control, show control, and audio systems, but this site contains many non-commercial resources related to entertainment, technology, and anything else I find interesting.

Off to Houston and USITT

Off to Houston and the USITT conference....

Had a great time in Austin.  Of course, I forgot to get any photos of any of the classes I did at the UT Austin, but I did take this weird photo:

This is actually a mock up the show control class taught by Rusty Cloyes (my host at the UT) built to actually implement a hypothetical case study that I wrote in my book! (see Chapter 30) I love it, and it's really funny because I just made up the example and never even thought of implementing it as a class project.  They got it to work using SFX and even ran every iteration I wrote up in the chapter.

Last night, Rusty and I went to see the crazy gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello at Stubbs, and they were great (she's standing on a bass drum held by the audience):
