About Me

I'm John Huntington, author of Control Systems for Live Entertainment, the first book on show control and entertainment control systems. Through Zircon Designs, I do consulting and design work on entertainment control, show control, and audio systems, but this site contains many non-commercial resources related to entertainment, technology, and anything else I find interesting.

Gogol Bordello at Webster Hall

I saw Gogol Bordello at Webster Hall Monday night, and they were amazing as usual.  This is the third time I have seen them and they are one of the most fun live bands I know (and I've been to a lot of concerts).  I took a friend who I had previously convinced to see a disastrous Gallagher show, so I hope I have redeemed myself.

The sound was OK, but the mixer succumbed to the "I have a lot of subwoofers so I should use them all" syndrome, and I couldn't hear the vocals very well.  But I can't blame anyone for that--Eugene Hutz, the lead singer, threw his mic on the ground at least five times in the show I saw, and his acoustic guitar was distorted.  I imagine the pick up was full of wine or something.
